Firm History and Overview

Through her client work as a partner at a boutique e-discovery and information governance law firm, our firm’s founder, Laura Clark Fey, discovered an even more specific passion—privacy and information governance. Laura was incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to develop a deep global privacy expertise through her work assisting multinational clients with a host of tricky, global privacy issues, in particular European privacy issues, starting in 2009—long before privacy was of any significant concern to most U.S. organizations. She loved the challenge of global privacy work and felt it was an area in which she could make a positive difference in the world—an impact achieved by helping clients navigate incredibly complex laws in a manner that not only reduced potential legal and business risks, but also benefitted their customers and employees.

In 2014, Laura founded Fey LLC, a privacy and information governance law firm. Her new legal practice focused exclusively on assisting organizations develop and implement practical, legally compliant solutions to their unique privacy and information governance challenges.

Our global data privacy, cybersecurity, and information governance law firm continues to concentrate solely on assisting multinational and U.S. corporations in developing and implementing practical solutions to their unique data privacy, cybersecurity, and information governance challenges. That deep expertise has been recognized on a national and international level. Laura is one of 27 U.S. lawyers selected into the inaugural class of Privacy Law Specialists (IAPP). She also was selected as part of the inaugural class of IAPP Fellows of Information Privacy (FIP). The U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission selected Laura as part of the first class of 16 Privacy Shield Arbitrators in connection with the former EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework Binding Arbitration Program. The U.S. Department of Commerce and the European Commission selected Privacy Shield Arbitrators based on their independence, integrity, and expertise.
