Daniel Neugent

Daniel Neugent brings a background in software engineering and machine learning to his work at Fey LLC, pairing hands-on development experience with doctoral study in computer science.

Daniel is pursuing his Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Kansas, where he also earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Across five internships and the work since, he has built software with modern machine learning tools, earning one patent with a second pending. At Burns & McDonnell, he automated invoicing and built graph databases to visualize networks, and at FORVIS he built an Azure Active Directory chatbot. As a product manager at OPENLANE, he developed machine learning tools for search and vehicle inspection. He also works as a software engineer for CIDDL at the University of Kansas, where he built an AI chatbot and researched retrieval-augmented generation. Daniel is the founder and CEO of Step Forward, a consulting company that has helped 17 Kansas City organizations, mainly nonprofits such as Catholic Charities and Rockhurst High School, build databases and streamline their workflows. Daniel joined Fey LLC as a Software & Security Engineer in September 2026, where he builds the firm’s technical systems and works with attorneys to solve interdisciplinary problems involving the law, software, and cybersecurity. Outside of work, he is always open to meeting new people over coffee.
