Conference Program for September 11 – September 13, 2019

Laura Clark Fey, Privacy Law Specialist (IAPP), CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, FIP, Principal of Fey LLC, and co-panelists Jill Cusack, Assistant Vice President, Privacy Officer American Fidelity Assurance Company, and Katie Koelling, Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, Thrivent, will discuss strategies for life insurance companies to comply with ever-evolving privacy requirements with compliance and ethics professionals, industry experts and key state and federal regulators attending the 2019 CEFLI Annual Conference on September 12, 2019, in Nashville, Tennessee.

Because life insurance companies routinely receive Personally Identifying Information (PII) to evaluate applicants for life insurance policies and to conduct their overall operations, life insurers are subject to a range of new privacy requirements, including the EU’s GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act, which impact the manner in which life insurance companies must maintain the privacy of PII.  Laura, Jill and Katie will discuss compliance challenges associated with protecting the privacy of PII, and other consumer-related information in the life insurance industry, and will provide meeting attendees with practical compliance strategies.
