Presentation Summary:

Organizations are increasingly relying on third-party vendors—resulting in increased efficiency, but also bringing increased privacy risks.  Research shows that almost half of organizations experience a data breach caused by a third-party vendor.  It is not surprising that privacy regulators around the world, and particularly in the EU, are demanding that organizations develop strong third-party vendor practices.

During the next IAPP KnowledgeNet in Denver, Jennifer Mullins, General Counsel of SafeGuard World International, and Laura Clark Fey, Principal of Fey LLC, will discuss third-party vendor selection and contracting requirements under the GDPR and Privacy Shield.  Jennifer and Laura will spend the majority of the meeting providing participants with recommended practices for third-party vendor selection, contracting, monitoring, and termination.  Although there will be special emphasis placed on Privacy Shield and GDPR compliance, meeting attendees will take away generally useful tips on minimizing privacy and cybersecurity risks when engaging third-party vendors for their organizations.

We hope to see you in Denver!
